A Google Business Profile helps a doctor or clinic appear in Google Search and Maps for relevant local searches. The profile must represent a real, eligible practice, use accurate details and follow Google’s specific rules for individual practitioners and organisations.
For doctors in Cyprus, the strongest profile is consistent with the website, professional registration and real-world signage. It should help patients understand who practises there, where the location is and how to make contact.
Doctor profile, clinic profile or both?
Google treats doctors and dentists as individual practitioners. A public-facing practitioner who can be contacted directly at the verified location may create a dedicated profile. Where several practitioners work at one location, the organisation can have its own profile and eligible practitioners may have separate profiles.
Google says a practitioner profile in a multi-practitioner location should use only the practitioner’s name and should not add the organisation name. A solo practitioner representing a branded organisation is generally best served by one shared profile using Google’s stated naming format. Avoid creating duplicates for specialties.
Set up the core information correctly
- Use the real-world business or practitioner name without keywords added for ranking.
- Choose the fewest categories needed to describe the core business.
- Enter the precise address or valid service-area arrangement.
- Add the correct local telephone number and website landing page.
- Publish real opening hours and update holiday hours.
- Complete verification and keep ownership under the practice’s control.
A virtual office is not eligible merely because mail can be received there. Google requires a genuine staffed location that meets its public-facing rules.
Connect the profile with the right website page
A practitioner profile should normally link to a page about that practitioner, while a clinic profile should link to the clinic page. The destination should repeat the name, address, phone, specialty and contact route clearly. This helps patients and reduces conflicting business signals.

Photos, services and updates
Add current, representative photos of the exterior, reception, consultation environment and team when patient privacy permits. Do not upload patient images without a valid basis and clear permission. Keep services factual and avoid unsubstantiated superlatives or outcome promises.
Updates can communicate opening changes, new locations or useful practice information. The profile is not a substitute for a complete website because website pages provide more room for qualifications, services, policies and accessible contact details.
How to ask for Google reviews
Google permits businesses to remind customers to leave reviews and provide a review link or QR code. Reviews must reflect genuine experiences. Incentives, discounts or pressure to post, change or remove a review violate Google’s rules.
Ask consistently rather than selecting only patients expected to give five stars. Respond professionally, but do not confirm that a reviewer is a patient or disclose medical details. A short response can acknowledge feedback and move any personal discussion to a private channel.
Measure local visibility
Track website clicks, calls and direction requests alongside website enquiries. Use consistent campaign parameters where appropriate and keep patient data out of URLs. Profile activity can show discovery, but it does not prove that every action became a patient.
