To find a night pharmacy in Cyprus, check the Pharmaceutical Services duty list for your city and the date you need, then telephone the pharmacy before leaving. A pharmacy near you is not necessarily the one on duty tonight, and an on-call pharmacist is not the same as a shop open all night.

The official page below provides the city lists. This guide helps you read them and plan your visit; it does not display live opening status.

Find the right duty list for your city

Open the official Pharmaceutical Services page and select the appropriate city. The headings are in Greek, so use this short guide:

The city links currently open downloadable spreadsheets. Use a spreadsheet app if your phone cannot display the file. Check the dates inside it: a download date or search-result timestamp does not establish which evening the rota covers. Return to the official page for a newer file rather than reusing an old download.

How to check which pharmacy is open tonight

  1. Choose the city and correct date. Use Cyprus local time. For a visit after midnight, check which overnight period the rota covers rather than assuming the next calendar date means a new duty pharmacy.
  2. Identify the pharmacy and full address. Match the name, street and area before opening directions.
  3. Call before setting off. Ask whether the shop is open for a visit or whether you need the duty pharmacist’s after-hours arrangements.
  4. Explain what you need. Give the medicine name, strength and form, if known, and ask what prescription or identification to bring.
  5. Confirm stock and collection. A duty listing does not confirm that a particular product is available.

Cyta’s night-pharmacy page is an additional way to check published pharmacy contacts. Verify the city and date displayed there too, particularly around midnight or when viewing a cached page.

Night pharmacy, duty pharmacy and 24-hour pharmacy

People often use these phrases interchangeably. The official rota identifies pharmacies assigned to cover specified out-of-hours periods. Later overnight service can involve contacting the duty pharmacist to arrange prescription dispensing after the shop closes. Check the current notice for the applicable hours.

This matters when a map says “closed” but a pharmacy is listed on duty, or a search result says “24 hours” without explaining access. Ask directly whether you can walk in at your intended arrival time. Do not assume that a green cross or a directory listing confirms overnight opening.

Sundays, public holidays and seasonal changes

Before a Sunday or holiday visit, check that day’s rota rather than the pharmacy’s usual weekly timetable. The official page publishes notices with defined validity periods. Check that the notice covers your visit date, especially when seasonal opening arrangements change.

For medicines you use regularly, discuss collection before weekends, holidays or travel. If you have already run out, explain the situation to the pharmacist or prescriber; do not change treatment yourself to make a supply last longer.

What to have ready when you call

  • The medicine’s exact name, strength and formulation, or a clear photograph of its packaging.
  • Your prescription details and any identification the pharmacy requests.
  • Your location and intended arrival time.
  • A question about price, payment and any applicable GESY arrangements.

If symptoms require urgent medical help, a pharmacy search is not a substitute for emergency care. Call 112 for an emergency; our Cyprus emergency healthcare guide explains the routes.

Frequently asked questions

1. How do I find a pharmacy open now in Cyprus?

Use the current city duty list, match the relevant date and call to confirm access at the time you plan to arrive.

2. Are night pharmacies open 24 hours?

Do not assume so. A pharmacy can provide published evening opening followed by on-call prescription service. Confirm the arrangements with the pharmacist.

3. What are night pharmacies called in Greek?

Common searches include διανυκτερεύοντα φαρμακεία and εφημερεύοντα φαρμακεία. The Pharmaceutical Services page uses Διημερεύοντα Φαρμακεία.

4. Can I rely on a saved screenshot of the duty list?

Only after confirming that it covers the relevant city and date and has not been replaced. Checking the current source and calling is safer than relying on an old screenshot.

5. Does Doctors Cyprus show live pharmacy opening hours?

This article explains how to check the published rota. Our pharmacy directory is separate and does not establish current duty status or stock.
